Redeeming Mileage Reminders when Redeeming Mileage


Who Is Eligible For Awards

Awards can be used by the JMB member and the following relatives.

Reminders When Exchanging Mileage for Awards

  • JMB members may not combine their mileage in order to receive awards.
    Mileage accumulated in other companies' mileage programs cannot be combined with JMB mileage in order to receive awards.
  • Awards issued for children and infants require the same mileage as those issued for adults.
    Infants may possess either (1) a mileage award ticket, or (2) an infant-fare ticket based on the same class of service as that which is to be utilized by the adults traveling with the infant, or (3) an infant-fare ticket based on a lower class of service plus an upgrade certificate. Infants traveling on mileage award tickets will occupy their own seat. Infants traveling on infant-fare tickets will not occupy their own seat.
  • Check your mileage balance.
    Please make sure that you have the required number of miles at the time you request an award. You cannot request an award if you do not have the required mileage.
  • Taxes and fees.
    Taxes, charges and various handling fees such as fuel surcharges and airport taxes applicable for international award tickets or upgrade awards will be collected from the applicable JMB member or the user of awards.

    (When traveling with partner airlines, the amount of "Fuel Surcharge" and "Security Surcharge" may differ in application from JAL Group airlines)
  • Your reservation must be confirmed.
    Award tickets and upgrade awards require confirmed reservation. The award will not be issued until your reservation has been confirmed. Once the reservation is confirmed, the award application will be completed by deducting the necessary miles from your JMB account and issuing the award.
    Waitlists are not permitted for Japan domestic flight sectors of JAL Group Airlines and JMB partner airlines' flight sectors.
  • Mileage refunds.
    Once redeemed, mileage cannot be refunded to your account or used in exchange for a different award even if the award is completely unused. Deducted mileage from member's account can only be refunded by using the "Mileage Reinstatememt Service for Unused Awards".

How to Request Award


Awards can only be requested, issued, and received in the American Region.
The member himself/herself must request the Awards regardless of who uses the Awards.
However, members who wish to entrust another person to do so should register an official proxy to their JMB. To register, login and click [Proxy Registration/ Change/ Cancellation].
* Award application cannot be made at JAL ticket offices, JAL airport counters or JMB Centers in other regions.

  • JAL International Upgrade Awards (Applicable for tickets booked directly with the JAL Reservation Center. For tickets booked through JAL Website or travel agencies including online travel agencies, please call the JMB Center.)

[ Deadline for Award Requests ]

JAL Group Domestic Award Tickets From 09:30 (Japan time) 2months until 4 days (*2) prior to the date of departure.
For requests through JAL's website, until 23:59pm (Pacific time) 4 days prior to the date of flight departure.
JAL International Upgrade Awards By 12:00 noon Pacific Time (*3) the day prior to departure (*4)
For applications through JAL's website, until 23:59pm (Pacific time) 2 days prior to the date of flight departure.
JAL COUPON AWARD 2 weeks are required to deliver from the request date
ONLINE SHOPPING AWARD 2-4 weeks are required to deliver from the request date
Other Awards 2 weeks are required to deliver from the request date

(*1) The day when all reservations have been confirmed and mileage redeemed will be referred to as the Deadline for Processing Awards.
(*2) If a Saturday, Sunday, or U.S. Holiday falls within the 4 days prior to departure, the deadline for processing will be 5 days prior to departure.
(*3) If awards are requested in South America, the deadline will be 12:00 noon Sao Paulo local time.)
(*4) If the day prior to departure is a Saturday, Sunday, or U.S. Holiday, the deadline will be the preceding weekday.

How to Receive Awards


[ Flight Award issued as e tickets ]

  • e ticket itinerary/receipt will be sent by e-mail or regular mail.
  • Please present your e ticket itinerary/receipt upon check-in.

[ JAL International Upgrade Award ]

Upgrade will be arranged at the departure airport on the flight date. When checking in, please mention that you have already requested for an upgrade award, and present your purchased ticket.

[ JAL Group Airlines Domestic Award Tickets ]

They will be available at the airport on the day of departure. Please click here for details.

[ JAL COUPON AWARD ]

The award will be delivered to your JMB registered address. 2 weeks* are required to deliver the award from the date of request.
For security reason, all items sent from the JMB Center can ONLY be mailed to your JMB registered address in the American Region.
Please check the registered address at the time of award application and notify the JMB Center by phone regarding any changes to your address before requesting the award.

  • * This award will be sent by courier and all deliveries will require a signature upon delivery.
  • * Depending on the region where the member resides, it may take more than 2 weeks to deliver the award.
  • * Awards cannot be collected at JAL Group city ticket offices or JAL airport counters.

[ ONLINE SHOPPING AWARD ]

2-4 weeks required to delivery from the requested date.
  • * Items delivered to the U.S. will be sent by Fedex, UPS, or DHL depending on the items selected.
  • * Items delivered to Canada will be sent by Canada Post.
  • * Depending on the region where the member resides, more than regular may be required for delivery.
  • * Item cannot be delivered to airport check-in counter.

[ Flight Award Issued as Paper Tickets and Other Awards ]

Awards will be sent by regular mail or Fedex.
For security reason, all items sent from the JMB Center can ONLY be mailed to your JMB registered address in the American Region.
Please check the registered address at the time of award application and notify the JMB center of any change of address.
