Japan Airlines Resumes Nonstop Service between Dallas Fort Worth and Tokyo

Airline announces increase to daily service from March 20, 2016

Dallas Fort Worth Airport, TX: November 30, 2015: Japan Airlines (JAL) today celebrated a return-to-service between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) after an absence of 14 years. This latest service is part of JAL's joint business with fellow oneworld® alliance member, American Airlines, and further strengthens the two airlines' combined trans-Pacific operations.

The first flight, JL012, departed NRT with a nearly full load of passengers on Japan Airlines' Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, called JAL SKY SUITE 787. The flight landed at DFW this morning and was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute.

Before the departure of flight JL011 to Tokyo, Japan Airlines Chairman Masaru Onishi led a traditional gate ceremony including a ribbon cutting with local dignitaries. Traditional Japanese cuisine was also offered to departing passengers and taiko performers delivered the spirit of Japan with the precise roll of drums.

"The Dallas/Fort Worth region is a strategic addition to Japan Airlines' growing network of global destinations," JAL Chairman Onishi said. "With DFW Airport's central location, abundant connecting routes and exceptional amenities, we believe that more convenience and travel options can be offered to our customers travelling to and from Japan and beyond."

"We're excited to welcome Japan Airlines back to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport with their Dreamliner service to Tokyo," said DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue. "Japan Airlines is known for providing an exceptional level of customer service, and it is the same kind of service that DFW seeks to provide to its customers. We know that DFW will be a convenient mid-continent gateway for travelers from Japan to the United States and Latin America."

Japan Airlines' DFW-NRT nonstop service begins with a four flights per week schedule (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun). The airline announced today that it will increase to daily service from March 20, 2016*.

The state-of-the-art JAL SKY SUITE 787 features a three-class configuration with 38 award-winning JAL SKY SUITE lie-flat seats in JAL Business Class, 35 JAL SKY PREMIUM fixed slide-down seats in JAL Premium Economy Class, and 88 award-winning JAL SKY WIDER II seats in JAL Economy Class. JAL's latest inflight entertainment system, Magic-VI, is available throughout the aircraft with touchscreen monitors fitted at every seat.
