Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
Inari is widely worshipped as the Kami of prosperous trade, a bumper harvest, and as a charm for better fortune. This is the general head Shrine out of about 30,000 Shrines dedicated to Inari in the whole of Japan. On the side of Mt. Inariyama there are the torii entrance "tunnels" called Senbon torii, and the vermillion tunnels continue on and on. Large crowds turn out for the Hatsumode (first visit to the Shrine) on New Year's Day, and the Hatsuuma-sai Festival in February.
