Ise Grand Shrine
The perfect spot to enjoy a selection of thermal spas set against a rich tapestry of fall foliage
Nestled between the Aso-Gairin and Kujuren mountain ranges, Kurokawa Onsen is a hot spring resort featuring 28 ryokan (guest houses) along the banks of the Tanohara River. Spectacular fall foliage can be viewed at Seiryu-no-Mori nature park and other nearby locations. The thermal baths here use wooden passes called "nyuto tegata", which can be purchased for 1200 yen each, and used for admission in up to three different baths. The opportunity to visit several open-air thermal baths and compare their stunning natural scenery is among the unique privileges enjoyed by fall visitors to Kurokawa Onsen.
