Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine

Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine
Said to have been originally constructed in 807, the shrine is at the starting point of Subashiriguchi Trail. Since many Fuji-ko adherents stopped by, about 70 monuments and memorials are left here, most of which were erected in memory of a certain amount of worship-ascents, such as 33. It suffered great damage from the eruption in 1707, but was rebuilt in 1718, and stands to this day after repeated restoration work. Among the trees growing in the spacious precincts, there are cedars and deciduous trees several hundred years old, from which you can hear birds chirping. Designated natural monuments such as giant Japanese elms can also be seen.
