Fuji Omuro Sengen-jinja Shrine
The shrine consists of Motomiya and Satomiya; Motomiya (also called Yamamiya) is located at the second station on Fujisan Yoshidaguchi Trail. In 958, the Satomiya was built at the scenic lakeside of Kawaguchiko, where it still stands today, to conduct festivals and prayer ceremonies more conveniently. Built in 699, Motomiya is said to be the oldest shrine structure around Fujisan, possessing numerous rare shrine treasures. The current main shrine was constructed in 1612, then after four great renovation works, it was moved from the second station of Fujisan to Satomiya. The traditional Yabusame Matsuri (horseback archery festival) has been held for over 900 years at this shrine.
