"Oshi" Lodging House (Former House of the Togawa Family)
Oshi refers to people who promulgated Fujisan worship and offered prayers as a profession, and who also offered accommodation and meals at lodgings to Fuji-ko practitioners when they climbed as a religious practice. The oshi of Yoshida were leading oshi people on Fujisan, forming a large-scale village with oshi houses on both sides of the streets in the area in front of Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine, where the Yoshidaguchi Trail started. At one time, there were apparently more than 80 oshi houses. The main building of the Former House of the Togawa Family was built in 1768, being one of the oldest among oshi houses.
