Lake Yamanakako

Lake Yamanakako
Lake Yamanakako
One of the Fujigoko (Fuji Five Lakes) and the largest in surface area (6.67 square km). The altitude of the lake surface (982 meters) is the highest among the Fuji-goko, and is the 3rd highest in Japan. Conversely, the depth is the shallowest among the Fujigoko. Moreover, Lake Yamanakako is the only one with a natural effluent river. When viewed north-up, the lake looks like a whale. While "Sakasa Fuji" (inverted Fuji), a beautiful reflection of Fujisan, is famous, you can also see "Diamond Fuji" in mid October to the end of February when the sun shines directly in line with the top of Fujisan, from the northern side of the Lake called the Nagahama district.
