Yoshida Lava Tree Molds

Yoshida Lava Tree Molds
Yoshida Lava Tree Molds
This was formed by the eruption in 937, only to be discovered by a Fuji-ko practitioner in 1892. Although it is not open to the public usually, the interior goes on exhibit during the Yoshida Tainai Festival (held in April) once a year. It has been preserved as an object of prayer by religious practitioners who visit Fujisan along with the Funatsu Lava Tree Molds and the other sacred spots. It is also an object of prayer for easy childbirth delivery, as its complex shape formed by many trees overlapping each other resembles the maternal womb, which is the origin of life.
