Chuson-ji

Konjiki-do Oi-do (Shelter Hall)
The first lord, Kiyohira, began the building of this temple at the beginning of the 12th century and construction took over 25 years. There are many national treasures and important cultural properties including the Konjiki-do (Golden Hall), Konjiki-do Oi-do (Shelter Hall), and Kyozo (Sutra Repository). Konjiki-do is a mausoleum where the bodies of the first, second and third lords of the Oshu Fujiwara family and the head of the fourth lord are interred. Chuson-ji was the spiritual as well political and administrative center of Hiraizumi.
